ChatBox 101
Welcome to the 21st century. The whole idea is to make information more accessable. For many of us, it can be a long drive, and while the computer is helpful, it's better to have a first hand report. In addition, a chat box can be useful in many of the same ways a forum is handy. Who is going out of town flying this weekend? Anyone want to help me repack my reserve? I hope that you find the ChatBox easy and helpful.

It's as simple at typing in your name and your message and click Go! Some people often find it helpful to type in a place as the name. That way a message of "MR: Winds are light" would indicated that winds are light at Mussel Rock. Other people prefer that you use your real name so they can consider the source (ex: "Bob P: Winds are light"). I say, do whatever you'd like, just keep it relevent to Paragliding.

Ulike some similar message systems, the chat box is designed to be fast loading and mobile phone browser friendly. It works great on my phone, but if you're having problems, please let me know so I can make adjustments. To access the ChatBox on your phone, visit

Text "BAPA YOUR MESSAGE" to 41411.
That's right! I said you can TEXT your post to the ChatBox!
You can post a message to the chat box by texting "BAPA YOUR MESSAGE" to 41411. For example, if you sent the text "BAPA MR Fog has lifted" that could really be useful to someone. The "name" on the ChatBox is automatically linked to your phone number.
When you text your post, your message is limited to 9 words. You'll receive a text back confirming that you made a post. The text service is provided FREE by a company that places a small ad at the bottom of the text message. Service available on the following wireless networks: AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, Virgin & Alltel. In addition, standard text messages rates apply from your mobile phone company. It's often about $0.10 per text unless you've purchased a text message package, but you'll need to look at your contract to find out.
Mussel Rock Winds via Text Message
Text "MRWIND" to 41411 (it's NOT case-sensitive).You'll receive a text back in about a minute with the tempature, *FOG* if it's probably foggy, current wind (Fort Funston) and the 11am, 2p, and 5p wind forecast from the WUnderground. As an added bonus, after 5p, the WUnderground forecast is for the following day. As mentioned above, this service is free and there is a small ad is placed at the bottom of the text message you'll get back. In addition, you're mobile phone company may charge you a nominal fee per text message.
This is still in development, so please let me know if you get a crazy response.
Put the ChatBox on Your Website
Would you like to have the BAPA Chat Box on your website? Using a simple HTML tag called an "IFRAME", you can have the up-to-date ChatBox on your website too! The chatbox will be hosted on our server, and the code below allows We support customized widths, so the Chat Box is sure to fit wherever you want it. Here's the code:
<iframe frameborder="0" width="200" height="300" src="http://poseydesign.com/bapa/?w=f" marginheight="2" marginwidth="2" scrolling="yes" allowtransparency="yes" name="cboxmain" style="border: #DBE2ED 1px solid;" id="cboxmain"></iframe>
Adjust the width and height as you see fit. You really sholdn't need to adjust the link, but if you're an advanced user, and you find the need, you can slightly customize the output by changing the attributes in the source URL. The "?w=f" means 'full' width of 100% (typically desireable for IFRAME useage). You can also specify pixel width. For example, "?w=200" would produce a ChatBox which fits in 200pixels.
